Fusion Pro was a solid buy

I bought Fusion Pro for my Mac, needed to run some Windows-only apps. The online store was simple enough to navigate and the purchase went through without a hitch. Download was fast, and the install wizard made setup pretty easy. It took 5 days to reach Denver for the digital download link, which felt a tiny bit slow, but not a huge deal. The software itself is robust, handles everything I throw at it. My only small complaint is that the interface could use a bit of a modern refresh; it feels a little dated compared to other Mac apps. But functionally, it's great value for money and does exactly what I needed.

Workstation Pro rocks!

Got Workstation Pro for my new laptop and it's awesome! Super easy to get set up and running. I've been using it for a few different VMs and everything just works perfectly. The performance is really good. I'm definitely going to use them again for any future software I need!

Good product, minor install hiccup

I purchased VMware Workstation Pro a few weeks back. The ordering process was pretty straightforward on their site. I used an academic discount, which applied fine at checkout. Download was quick, but the installation gave me a small error message initially about a driver not being signed. I had to Google for a fix; it was an easy workaround, but it stopped me for about 10 minutes. Once installed, the software has been solid for my needs. Support wasn't needed, so I can't comment there. Overall, it works as expected, just that one little snag.

My company is looking at NSX vs Cisco ACI for network virtualization. Any real-world opinions on NSX implementation complexity and benefits?

J June 2 months ago

NSX can be powerful, but it definitely has a learning curve. If you're already heavily invested in the VMware ecosystem, it integrates pretty smoothly, but expect some ramp-up time for your network team.

A Alex Z. 2 months ago

We use NSX-T and it's been great for micro-segmentation and automating network services. The initial setup takes some planning, but once it's configured, it's pretty robust. ACI is also solid, but it's a different beast.

How quickly do license keys get delivered after purchase? Need vCenter ASAP for a project.

T Todd 2 months ago

It's digital, so usually pretty much instantly. You get an email with the keys and download links right after your payment clears.

R Renee 2 months ago

Yeah, usually within minutes. I've bought a few things from them over the years and it's always been fast. Just check your spam folder too, sometimes it lands there.

Can I return a digital download if it doesn't work out? What's their refund policy like?

M Mike L. 2 months ago

They have a refund policy for digital downloads, but it's usually within a short window, like 30 days. You'd need to check the exact terms on their site, but it's generally possible.

A Alex 2 months ago

Returns for digital stuff can be tricky with any software vendor, but VMware usually has a pretty standard policy. As long as you're within their specified timeframe, you should be good.

Anyone know if they accept PayPal or is it just credit card for online purchases?

N Noor N. 1 month ago

Pretty sure they take PayPal. I used it for my Workstation Pro renewal a few months back.

C Cleo 1 month ago

They accept most major credit cards, and I think PayPal is an option too. You'll see all the accepted methods during checkout on their site.

I'm a student, trying to set up a home lab. Do they have any student discounts for vSphere or other bigger products? Or just for Workstation?

A Alex G. 2 months ago

They totally have academic discounts, usually up to 50% on select software. Check their education store section, you might need to verify your student status.

G Gwen G. 2 months ago

Student discounts are definitely a thing! I think it applies to more than just Workstation, but you might need to go through their academic portal or a specific reseller.

Does VMware still offer perpetual licenses for things like Workstation Pro, or is it all subscription based now?

S Sophie L. 2 months ago

For Workstation and Fusion, you can still get perpetual licenses, which is nice. I renewed my Workstation Pro last year and it was a one-time purchase.

A Andre Z. 2 months ago

Some of their enterprise stuff is definitely subscription, but I think the desktop hypervisors like Workstation and Player still have perpetual options.

I'm thinking of moving from VirtualBox to VMware Workstation. Is it worth the switch for better performance on Windows?

P Paula A. 3 months ago

For sure, Workstation Pro generally has better performance and more advanced features than VirtualBox, especially for more demanding VMs. It's a noticeable difference.

C Chris Kaur 2 months ago

Yeah, VMware tends to handle things like 3D graphics and resource management better. If you're doing anything serious, it's a good upgrade from VirtualBox.

Hey, thinking about getting Fusion Pro for my new MacBook. Anyone know if there are any current deals for Mac users? Or should I wait till Black Friday?

M Mark M. 2 months ago

I just grabbed Fusion Pro last month and there was a promo code pop-up on their site for like 15% off. Worth checking if it's still there. Black Friday might be better though if you can hold out.

A Amber F. 2 months ago

Yeah, they usually have codes for Fusion, especially around back to school or specific events. Definitely keep an eye out, sometimes they're right on the product page during checkout.
